Tim Schelfe, ASID
Tim is a graduate of the University of Maryland, College Park where he earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Interior Design. Tim is a Professional member of the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) and is certified by the National Council of Interior Design Qualification (NCIDQ). Tim is an active member of the ASID Carolinas Chapter, which includes both North and South Carolina. Tim has served on numerous committees, chair positions and currently is the immediate Past President of the ASID Carolinas Chapter. Tim has recently been elected to serve on the National Board of Directors for ASID as a Director at Large. In addition to his work with ASID, Tim is also a member of the Best Practices Network (BPN). The BPN is an exclusive group of Interior Design firms throughout the country who meet regularly to discuss, review and learn from one another the best practices in business related to Interior Design. In the BPN, Tim has been a workshop facilitator and active member of the BPN.
Tim has over twenty four years of Interior Design experience and has been the owner and managing principal of his firm for over eleven years. Tim has work published in Renovation Style, Better Homes and Gardens, Carolina Homes & Interiors and Wakefield Living magazines and was hired by Southern Living magazine to help design one of the Southern Living Idea Houses for 2003. He has also been featured in the book Southern Rooms II, and most recently will be featured in a new inter-nationally published book titled “Visions of Design”. Tim’s design work has taken him throughout North Carolina; from the mountains to the coast as well as Myrtle Beach, Atlanta and Washington DC.
Tim has been awarded a total of seventeen Interior Design Specialty Awards from the ASID Carolinas Chapter for his custom residential, retail, hospitality and commercial design work. He was the recipient of the 2003 Designer of the Year Award and received 2005 and 2008 ASID Carolinas Presidential Awards.
Tim often travels for business and pleasure and finds his travels often re-energize his excitement and enthusiasm for his love of design. Tim has traveled throughout the United States and throughout Italy, including visiting the Church in Italy where is father was baptized as an infant. Tim resides in Raleigh with his wife, Ruth Anne, and their two children.
