The concept for the interiors of Waterbridge was derived from a vision shared with us by the Owner. His vision was to create a truly unique interior which likened itself to the travels of J. Peterman (from Seinfeld and the famous catalog). We were asked to collaborate on a very eclectic and distinctive concept with a well-traveled, global undertone, while maintaining a low country Victorian village vernacular architecture.
The spicy color palette consists of terracotta, browns, caramels, brick red, and creamy neutrals, complimented by an earthy green. Each area of the clubhouse takes on a distinct and unique character. Our global traveling muse’s influence is strongest in the main Club Room. The millwork in this room sets the warm and collected tone through random width vertical paneling, heavy, simple doors and casings, exposed roof trusses, and a quirky shelf supported by Moroccan inspired lattice work with thick, scrolling brackets. The aged dark wood floors add to the warmth of the space. Bronze finishes on the lighting fixtures and hardware support the rustic look. The furniture plan allows for a true mix of furnishings. We’ve placed the comfortable lounge seating in the center area, a game table just to the right as you enter the front door, and a small seating area to the left. Each of these areas presents furnishings and fabrics inspired by different eras. According to the concept, each item in this space should appear to have a story; a garden stool brought back from the Far East, a 1950’s inspired sofa from our muse’s days as a professor, and patchwork rugs from the Middle East. The Offices adjacent to the space have warm red walls, painted millwork, and geometric carpet. The Restrooms consist of mixed color matte finish tiles, bronze sinks, and patterned wallpaper (Asian inspired floral for the Ladies, subtle green chain links for the Men). Crossing into the Snack Bar area, the Restrooms have complimentary wallcovering and random patterned tile wainscot. The Snack Bar has a slightly more modern tone reflected in the flat panel televisions, Nano-walls, and café seating. The fresh green walls provide a connection with the outdoors, the large pool, and the Liquid Lounge. The Kitchen mixes low country cabinetry with an eclectic flame-stitch pattern mosaic tile backsplash. The Liquid Lounge takes on a flavor of its own with a pool table, fire pit, concrete countertops, and unique tile on the front of the bar. Finally, the Fitness Area is still distinctive, but has a more calm and simple atmosphere than the other areas. The striped carpet tiles and tan walls in the Fitness Room are a fresh twist on the typical workout space. The Locker Rooms are designed with a custom tile wainscot and terrazzo floors.
In summary, Waterbridge will prove to be a very unique community that showcases a design that will rise far above the rest. The warm and inviting areas throughout the interior will serve the community of Waterbridge as they celebrate life’s events, family gatherings and the incredible pools.
