This project, a designer Showhouse for the ASID Carolinas Chapter, was set in a luxury townhome inside the city limits of Raleigh, North Carolina. Tim Schelfe chose the Mater Bedroom and Bath for the design of an upscale, glamorous interior reflecting the times of Hollywood and high style. A few years earlier Tim had saved an advertisement of high end jewelry which showcased beautiful arrangements of diamonds and sapphires, knowing one day he would design a room based on this ad. Tim’s vision was to re-create this glamorous combination of white diamonds with deep blue sapphires.

The design of the room included installing alternating wall panels inset with a glass beaded wallcovering. All trim and remaining wall spaces are painted a pale cream color and the ceiling was hand painted in a silver leaf finish. The design of the window covering included a whimsical lambrequin whose shape is taken from the smaller scale pattern in the wallcovering. The furniture for the room is clean and somewhat contemporary while accents like the over-scaled table lamps help balance the mass of the lambrequins. Additional accents include crystal wall sconces and a chandelier, a blue and white chair with a soft fuzzy pillow and bed linens that mimic the design of the window coverings.

The room has a stunning and glamorous appeal which is inviting, warm and truly a place to retreat and pamper oneself.
